Purple Striped Feather Copper Enameled Brooch, Vitreous Enamel Pin, Handmade Metal Art Pin, WillOaks Studio Enamels, Ready to Mail

I was studying various bird feathers and began a set of enameled copper art pins inspired by the stripes on some of these. Doubtful that purple is found in nature as feathers like this, but that describes my feather shaped brooch.

The pin is formed from hand cut and shaped copper and coated with glass enamel. Many layers of fine glass are bonded to the metal, front and back, under high heat in a kiln. My experimental enamels incorporate opaque and translucent areas and the more transparent parts reveal polished metallic surfaces underneath which reflect light and surroundings.

The long purple pin is one of a kind. It is a piece of art jewelry inspired by nature. Pin measures about 3 1/2" (92 mm) long and about 7/8" (20 mm) wide at the widest. Presented in my signature box & ready to gift.

Glass or Vitreous enamels are bonded to the copper in a kiln at temperatures between 1450F-1500F for a permanent durable finished material that will not fade, bleed or change. As illustrated above, a steel pin is epoxied to the back & includes a safety clasp.
